Rapport Building
I always start my first lesson earlier than the given time to interact with parents about the syllabus, the way of teaching as well as to understand more about the children before i start. The latter is due to familiar (at least a bit) with the student to have the class more active. I do prefer to meet parent every time after the lesson, to update them about their kids' performance of the day. Regarding students wise, different students different method. But I do believe that no fixed way to teach until you see the student.

    I reward my students with gifts to motivate and reinforce good behaviour and in class performances. I also reward them when they practice and do their homework. I will also update parents after every class, drop them a text every now & then to check on students' progress as well.

    As i have worked with Yamaha and private music schools before, i will take the initiative to look for the updated syllabus to ensure my students are progressing in the right direction.

    Being a good tutor is not just about being able to deliver good results and performances from my students, but also to foster good personal habits like discipline and hardworking. Respect has to be given and earned and i believe in encouraging my students along the way. Reinforcements are also necessary to garner motivation from students as well.
