I have taught primary and secondary levels. Primary level-i have thought English, Maths and Malay language. My tutees did not do well at start. But after going through multiple practices and exercises my tutees did well for their exams and attained favorable results. I will go through topic by topic starting with the weak ones and then move up to the more manageable ones. As this would allow the student time to get used to the weak topics and cope with the subject(s). Secondary level-I have thought E-maths and A-maths. My tutee started off being very weak in her E-maths but after much drilling and countless practices on topics that she's weak at especially trigonometry. I will put in more focus on the student's weak topics and make sure they grasp the basic concept before moving on.

I believe as a tutor we should definitely be patient and ready to answer any kind of doubts and questions that is being asked. We should also be committed to our tutee and cater to their needs such as more revision or practice needed and not stick to the timeline we had stated, thus, we need to be more flexible to fit the situation at hand. Finally, make sure the tutee understand every single lesson and that they are able to keep up with the lessons being prepared.

I have obtained an A2 for my POA in GCE O Level and have gotten all As for my poly accounting modules.

In my class, I will give my student notes and practice questions to explain the accounting concepts. Mock exams will be given to the student when it is nearer to the exams to prepare him or her.

The location of my classroom is located at Tradehub 21.

My schedule are as follows: Tuesday (7.15pm to 9.15pm), Monday and Thursday (3.30pm to 5.30pm), Saturday & Saturday (9.30am to 11.30am)

Each class will be capped at 3 students to provide a conducive learning environment.

I'm a HOD, and oversee the Commerce Unit for POA and EBS in my school. I have been teaching for 10 years.

The 2013 GCE N and O level results of my students were above national averages, for both passing rates and distinction rates. Notably, the distinction rate for the N level students was above 80%. I have been giving private tuition since two years ago, and one O level student whom I took on when he was in Sec 4 showed a remarkable improvement from F9 for his Sec 3 End of Yr exam to A1 for the O level exam.

As a Good Tutor
To be a good tutor, he or she needs to know the content knowledge well. On top of that, the tutor must be able to use different pedagogies to bring the content across to the student. There should be continual assessment for learning for the tutor to pin-point the student's areas for improvements.

But, at the end of the day, the tutor must care for the student, and want the student to do well.

            As a Good Tutor
            Firstly, I believe that students should take an active role in learning. I will train them to have independent thinking, so that they clarify doubts and develop critical thinking. Even for younger students who tend to lose focus easily, I keep them interested by engaging them in interactive ways.

            Secondly, "constant is key". This is the rule of thumb to improve the grades of any student. With constant and regular practice, it builds up the confidence of students even in their weakest subjects.
