Commitment / Other Details: I will stay with my tutee as long as he/she need me.

My longest commitment is a female tutee whom I taught her from Primary 4 until Secondary 3 ( 2013) and will continue to her secondary 4 in the coming year.

On average, my tutees stays with me for at least 3 years ( Sec 2 to Sec 4 generally ) and up.

I may be away for In-Camp training, but will make up the lesson in the weekends. Priority will always be given to Primary 4 and 6, Secondary 2 and 4.

Rapport Building: I create a relax yet firm learning environment for my tutees. I want my tutees to treat me like their friends, in this way, they can learn better. But at the same time, they need to know that I am their senior, where basic respect is a must.

I will provide timely feedback to parent to inform of their child's progress.

In general, my tuition sessions are fun yet fulfilling as i always have a target to meet ( e.g. number of questions to complete, topics to cover etc ) for each session.

I may not guarantee results but my tutees would achieve beyond their ability and score well naturally.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: In my approach, I adopt revise, learning ahead and practice.

Revise - to check concept understanding of tutee for various topics, to re-teach if necessary.

Learning ahead - to learn faster than the school syllabus ( speed varies with tutee ability ).

Practice - to practise with actual past years tests and examinations papers to refine answering methods, correct any outstanding concept issues and familiarize tutee with examination question format.

Keeping Up with Curriculum

As a Good Tutor: As a good tutor I believe patience, understanding and encouragement is of utmost importance. Understanding that the students are weak and may not be able to grasp content as fast, so several times of explanation in different ways to help the student understand is very important. I believe that school and exams alone are pressurising enough on students, so a tutor shouldn't be further stressing them out but help them alleviate the the stress. Personally I feel that when a student sees improvement, even the slightest bit, it would prove to them that they have that potential to do well. Lastly, I strongly feel that some form of encouragement especially for young children will boost their confidence in themselves so they will push themselves so do better and better.
