Rapport Building: I will communicate with the student to find out what areas they need more help in and then make the session more tailored to the students needs. Parents will be informed of the students progress and what is being done to help the students as well as how it can help the student. I've been a student myself and am still a student so I understand what they are going through and taking advantage of the fact that I am younger than what one would expect when they think of a tutor, I try to become friends with the student, so as to make the lessons more comfortable for them. This way there can be more interaction and learning will become more of a fun experience for them, unlike classroom lectures. There is also a reward system whereby the student and I will set goals together and work toward them. Should that goal be met, there will be a reward for the student, which works as a motivation for them as well. I am passionate about the subjects I teach so I will do my best to share that passion with my students. However I am still a teacher and though I promise relaxed and fun lessons, there will still be boundaries and the student will learn what needs to be learnt.

I look forward to a partnership with the students parents, working together to help their child improve in subjects they need help with. Parents will also be informed of areas of concern regarding their child as well as be updated with what is happening during the lessons and their child's improvement and what they can do to help. Parents are free to contact me to ask any questions or bring up other areas of concern they they think should be addressed and I will be happy to reply.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Besides the formats of the papers, the fundamentals of the subjects are still the same and thus my aim is to teach students in a way that they understand the subject, not just memorise and follow. However, to keep up with the curriculum that changes every 4 years, I keep myself updated through the MOE website that discusses the emphasis of the various aspects to the subjects that I teach. Using past year papers also help in keeping up with the curriculum. Regularly communicating with the student also allows me to understand what is happening in school and what the teacher is going through. Since lesson styles and content vary from school to school, communicating with the student gives me a clearer view of what they are learning in school and thus what they need more help with.

As a Good Tutor: To be engaging and get the students attention based on discussions, not lectures.
Set clear goals for the students and objectives for each lesson so that the student can prepare and meet those goals and objectives in order to improve week by week.
Even though I promote fun and relaxing classes, discipline is also very important. Respect for the student as well as the teacher plays a big part in building that relationship.
Having a good communication system with the parents which can help the student improve even more, as well as for me to understand both the student, as well as areas parents are concerned about.
Having high expectations and motivating the student to work hard and do their best always.
Knowing the curriculum well and understanding the standards and demands of the subject and school helps me to gauge where the student is, and where they need to be.
Having a passion to teach and a passion for the subject is important as passion can be seen. If the student knows that there is no passion, then they lose interest as well which does not motivate them. Instead, having a passion and wanting to share that passion with students can help them to improve more when they start to see the subject in a different light.
Having a relationship with both the student, and their parents. This builds stronger rapport with both the parents, and the student.
