I am able to start work immediately and I can commit to tuition assignments for the whole academic year. I can teach up to about 3 students at one time but I feel that one-to-one tutoring provides students with the attention that they need to fully internalise what is being taught to them. I can do home tuition or meet students at a public place wherever convenient (preferably in the east). My timing is flexible and I can arrange individually.

      Tuition/Teaching Experience
Prior experience in tutoring back in 2013. For Maths, my belief is "practice makes perfect". It's not that hard once you started doing and applying formulas. For Physics wise, understanding the core concepts is the key. Likewise practising and applying correct formulas are equally important in scoring well for the subject. I am patient in teaching my students and I don't see the need in scolding unless there's really a need for it, with in that case I will refer the problem to the parents.

I am a Full-time tutor therefore I will be able to start ASAP and teach for long-term. I have taught students for many years.

Since I teach in the tuition centre, I also have access to study materials and I provide my students with materials such as testpapers and worksheets.
        Rapport Building
I try to make the syllabus easy to understand and make learning fun and that is my major strength. I normally understand the kids' capabilities and weaknesses in the first lesson & I try to work on those areas to help the child improve further. I also make sure that the child understands what is being taught because I believe that if he or she doesn't understand, he won't be able to apply the concepts without the guidance of the teacher. I believe that a student's foundation is very important so I make the syllabus easier with the fun element added to it.
I also constantly update parents on the progress of their child.
        Keeping Up with Curriculum
Since I am currently teaching in a Tuition Centre, therefore, I am very familiar with the current syllabus.
        As a Good Tutor
A good tutor builds a good rapport with the student and understands the child's capabilites and weaknesses. A good tutor should encourage and motivate students and work on those weak areas to help the child excel in his studies.

He/She will also make the syllabus easier to understand so that students understand what they are learning.

A good tutor should also be fun and lively, especially in their teaching approach, so that students enjoy learning.
Successful tutors listen and communicate early and often with parents. He/She constantly updates the parents on the progress of their child.

Since students count on their tutors, tutors are accountable to their students and themselves. A good tutor also values his/her students and take pride in the tutoring business by showing up on time and if there is need to cancel a lesson, he/she gives his/her students sufficient notice because reliability will increase credibility.

          Rapport Building
For rapport building, I usually will have a short introduction at the start. In the first lesson, I will help to analyse student's recent test script and understand his or her learning style.
          Keeping Up with Curriculum
For curriculum wise, I will follow up with the school curriculum. Meanwhile, I will also teach ahead of the school curriculum so the students could have a head start in school.
          As a Good Tutor
I am very particular in analysing the learning style of the students and I believe that learning using the most suitable learning style is the best applicable method in learning. I also has high expectations of tutee. For every hour of tuition, 2 hour of work is expected. Students are to come prepared with questions to ensure tuition time is well spent. On top of that, I will arrange mock test every month outside tuition hour to test students ability.

                Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have had one year of formal experience teaching/tutoring students at the secondary school level in Chemistry and Physics, in group and one-to-one arrangements. I have also done informal ad hoc tutoring in writing and literary skills.

I strive to make lessons they learn in school communicable on their level, tailored to how they learn.

I consider methods and approaches to be most important and the most helpful to learning. Knowing how to see things, and how to handle what is given and not given, means the student will know what to do and how to proceed, even if the questions/content are new/unfamiliar. Thus I try to teach my students methods of approach as a means of preparation, and focus on that, instead of the concrete details of the subject which can only bring them so far.

                Commitment / Other Details
I can start with effect on 16th May 2016. I can commit for 2-3 months, but other arrangements can be considered specific to the assignment, depending on my schedule at university and the requirements of the student. I prefer one-to-one as it is more effective, but can cater up to 2 students if need be. I can meet at students' homes, or quiet public areas like cafes.
                Rapport Building
I believe that communication is important between teacher and tutor, and student and tutor. I aim to learn about my students in terms of their learning styles and school performance (e.g. their experience with classes), and also their personality - since that will enable me to grasp how they learn/think, and experience their subject, and I can then try to create an approach/environment of learning that will suit them. I believe parents' expectations are also important in shaping learning, and will endeavour to get to know them, and let them know if any improvements are better made with their help.
                Keeping Up with Curriculum
My information is mainly from the MOE/SEAB websites, but I spend the first lesson going through the students' curriculum (to get an informed sense of their schools' approach and specific areas of focus if any), past and current grades, and what they think are their difficulties.
                As a Good Tutor
Enthusiasm and knowledge form the foundation of what I think a good tutor/teacher should be. At the very least, they should feel for their subject, and know their stuff.

Other qualities that are beneficial include patience, good time management (since we are after all working on a regular, timed basis), and the willingness to put in effort (because teaching does need effort). A good tutor should put in time to prepare their lessons. It's not just a job, but it concerns the student's development and possibly their future, and I try to keep these important tenets in mind.

                  Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have taught a primary 5 student E-Mathematics and a university undergraduate Accounting for a couple of months, at their own comfort home. I do believe that different people have a different style of learning and so I will try my very best to guide them in the best possible way. I do provide notes and extra questions or practice papers, on top of their own assignments. I am patient, as well as, friendly so my tutees can get along with me really well. My previous tutees have shown good improvement and did relatively good in that particular subject!

Currently, I have a sec 2 math and a sec 4 math student.
I was a MOE teaching intern in a popular neighbourhood school in taman jurong from Jan to March this year. During the internship, I taught sec 1 geography, and sec 2 math and geography. This internship exposed me to the learning styles of students of different capabilities and hence I am more able select the best teaching methods to help my students maximize their potential in learning.
