Tuition/Teaching Experience: I have been a teacher certified by MOE since 2010. I attained by Post-Grad Diploma in Education from NIE after receiving my Degree in Geography from NUS. I am currently teaching Geography and English Language at a local secondary school. Although I have vast knowledge of the new Lower Secondary Geography Syllabus, I have been deployed to teach sec 4 and 5 Geography classes. For English, I am currently the subject teacher of Sec 2 and Sec 4E classes.
In my teaching, I focus on IMPORTANT ANSWERING TECHNIQUES based on what I have learnt from O and N Level Markers' Report. I am rigorous in the revision of both subjects, but at the same time use interesting texts, and photographs to ensure maximum engaged learning by the student.

Rapport Building: I keep in constant contact with parents to ensure that they are updated on the progress of their child. I will be happy to go through what I have done with the child during lessons, and explain the child's strengths and weaknesses to ensure that the parent(s) are able to continue working with the child for optimum results.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: As a current school teacher, I am regularly updated on syllabus revision as well as modern and innovative teaching methods for secondary school. I also attend and am invited to teachers' conferences and workshops.

As a Good Tutor: As someone who thoroughly enjoy teaching, I am sure I will enjoy one-on-one as well as group tuition sessions. My love for the subject also allows me to use interesting facts and resources to teach. I am in touch with the current demands in education and can help to prepare the child adequately for their examinations. Tuition/Teaching Experience: I have been a tutor for the past 5 years and have taught children from different age groups.
Primary 1-5 for Math and Science for the past 4 years.
Secondary 1-3 for Elementary Mathematics and Science for the past 2 years.
I have even tutored children with ADHD and dyslexia.
Most children i teach have had their grades improved from 60-80 for the children in P1 and P3 in year 2015 for Mathematics and Science.

Rapport Building: I usually like to speak to parents to find out their expectations and what they would like their child to achieve at the end of the lesson / school terms. I then repeat this with the child and try to come up with a short term and long term goals for the child. In terms of understanding the child in where they stand subject-wise, i would get the child to explain concepts to me or find out where they are struggling and focus in their weak areas. Worksheets and assessments books will be used to enhance the learning of the child. Sometimes, I do come up with simple activities and hands-on practices for the children as this enhances their learning and helps them to be involved in setting of questions which they will be able to understand as they gave their inputs in it.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: I have friends who are teachers and I keep myself updated with the syllabus by asking whether the syllabus is any different from the previous year. Sometimes, I visit the stores and browse through the assessment books and textbooks to see what changes there are in the question styles and teaching methods.

As a Good Tutor: A good tutor understands where the child needs help and focuses on the areas for development.
It is also important that the child understands the concept skills taught in school and to provide simple and easy-to-remember ways to deal with skills to enhance their learning.
A good tutor does not only depend on assessment books and worksheets to improve the child's learning.
Grades although important should be the only target for the child. Their understanding is more important.

Rapport Building: Personally I fee that rapport is nothing more than a connection you make with students and their parents. I feel that behaving negatively to the misbehaviour of selective students would be detrimental to rapport building. Instead I believe that positive encouragement is the key to success in not only achieving results but having a drive and passion for learning even without external help. Only if the methods do not change the repetitive lack of attention towards studies, then I believe a more firm approach is required.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: With cousins who are still schooling, I am constantly kept abreast of the latest changes and modifications to the school curriculum.

As a Good Tutor: For a good tutor I feel that needing to know more about the personality, learning habits, strengths and weaknesses of the students. I feel that a fixed approach cannot be applied to everyone as every student learns and processes new concepts differently. Moreover, a one to one session helps the student retain more knowledge and also reduces the chance of diversion of attention.
