Tuition/Teaching Experience: I had one year of official teaching experience, which I had taught a Secondary 3 student with her Math. After teaching her for the first month, she improved vastly as she started to understand the concepts that she previously cannot understand.

While in secondary school, I often returned to my primary school to teach Primary 5 and 6 students who were faring poorly in their Math and helped them out in their schoolwork. The students very often returned with great improvements and jumps in their grades. In Junior College, I participated in the Straits Time Step-up programme in which I volunteered to teach and supervise the lower income Primary 6 students in their schoolwork. This helped them greatly in their preparation for PSLE.

The main issue faced by students in Physics stems from poor conceptual understanding and a lack of exposure to a variety of questions. Currently, there is a clear trend towards more application-based and conceptual questions, more qualitative than quantitative questioning.

Self-study has only a limited effect on a student's understanding and may perpetuate misconceptions due to a lack of guidance from school teachers and/or incorrect methods picked up from peers. Thus, the "need" for proper supervision. I use ICT tools in my profession as an MOE teacher to enable students to visualize concepts taught as Physics goes beyond just mathematical formulae.

I have spent a year working in a Primary School. During that time, I had the opportunity to interact with a diverse student population. Rapport Building: Connecting with the candidate is very important for building trust and respect. Knowing what each individual needs is very crucial to their growth in acquiring the knowledge required. Being observant for each individual children under tutelage is the key to help them grow into a responsible and morally correct person in society. Education encompasses the moral up bringing and the attitude of learning. Instilling the importance of knowledge and wisdom coupled with the process and methods of assimilating information and producing the desired outcome is important for learning. Being able to apply such knowledge and use them in our daily life is the essence of learning. For such the process of learning and the way we gain new knowledge is important. The total way we learn has to be intuitive and make sense to the student. Helping them to overcome their own limitations through methods of building confidence and knowledge is important. Visual plus hearing and application solidifies the knowledge and creates a permanent memory when it is properly indoctrinated within the person. The amount and mixture of such stimulus is therefore the teachers' responsibilities when tutoring the students.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: It is very important to keep up with existing curriculum as the knowledge gain will be tested by the relevant authorities, so the arena or area of tested knowledge has to conform with the testing authorities in the end. Curriculum dictates the knowledge that should be acquired by each individual with the set age group and so it keeps a normalized form of standards within each age group. Thus, the student should be able to converse with each other within this group age as set by the curriculum of each school and country.

As a Good Tutor: I have developed special memory skills during my school days and excel in most examinations. So I am able to transmit such knowledge to my students. Encouraging them to read and be able to explain the school work and connect with real life applications. I understand the brain development window of growth before these children reaches 16. So it is important to help them expand their brain capacity through interests and various teaching methods. I am adapt in the art of thinking which will help students begin to learn more. Most of my important formation years was in the USA which promotes thinking.
