      I enjoy teaching because as I teach, I learn too. I believe in life-long learning. Growing up in the contemporary 21st century, I personally experienced the challenges and difficulties kids and teenagers face today. Coming from an ex-computer games addict and a pessimistic kid with a very sullen outlook towards life, I grow up to become a passionate teacher, as well as student, to inspire learners to live to their utmost potential.

      In my sessions, I constantly challenge learners to think, to aim high, to believe that anything is possible as long as they set their mind to it. I also reinforce effective habits to have before, during, and after lessons, create mindmaps and conceptualize subjects into key simple ideas and keywords so students can speed up their learning and retention rate.

      I believe that habits and mindsets are best cultivated when young as they are still very flexible to changes. With positive attitude, passion, will and determination as a solid foothold, results will come inevitably!

        By reading through the textbooks and looking at the curriculum guidelines, and then attempting the exam practice papers myself, I can get a better grasp of what is needed of the child at his/her level, and modify the lesson contents accordingly so that the child is preferably slightly ahead of school. This way, the child can attend school lessons with a basic idea of what the lesson entails beforehand and focus more on listening and understanding what the teacher is teaching.
        As a Good Tutor
        To teach the child how to regain his/her confidence enjoy learning again, and to help the child discover his/her unique studying method. There is no fixed way to study, but the end goal is the same: to help the child move past memory retention and learn how to digest the information given and internalize the basics, which can then be applied in other scenarios. Exams should be a place for the student to show off his/her hard work, not a source of fear and trepidation.

            I do my research on the current syllabus and i'm still currently teaching at a tuition center, so i am thoroughly aware of the academic rigor as well as the topics themselves that are tested. I will source for tuition material if needed, but will largely base lessons on materials that the school is currently giving to make sure that my teachings are in line with that of the school's.
            As a Good Tutor
            I feel that a good tutor needs to have the ability to communicate to the students very well, and once they share the student-teacher bond, only then are they willing to open up their minds to learning. A common occurrence nowadays is that students usually "hate the subject" they are currently taking and hence perform poorly. A tutor's job is to inspire the tuttee to have a passion for the subject, and that can only be done through building a strong rapport that stems from good communication. Also i feel that a good tutor is required to address specific areas in which the child is weak in, and partiently guide them through. A strong drive to perform well, specific polishing of any imperfections, coupled with hard work will guarantee results.
