Currently as a graduate student, I have had many opportunities to teach in classroom settings as well as tutor students individually when the need arise. Thus, for five years, I have the opportunity to learn different teaching and learning styles, which I adopt in my teaching. In additional to my teaching experience in the university, I have also a year plus experience in teaching a student sitting for "O" levels.
I am able to begin immediately for at least a year commitment.
Rapport Building
For the past 1 year plus as a home tutor for a boy sitting for "O" level, I continually update (weekly if necessary) the boy's parents on his weaknesses and strengths, and suggest methods on he could improve himself further outside of tuition lessons.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep myself updated with the curriculum by keeping in-touch with my college friends who are currently school teachers at different level.
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor must be able to cater specifically to the child's learning style and motivate the child in his learning. I also believe that a tutor should also actively engage the parents so that they are kept aware of the child education progress. Besides imparting knowledge, I also aim to inculcate the value of continual learning which goes being academic success. I do this but trying to apply whatever is being taught to real life experience whenever possible. In so doing, I hope that students will appreciate the world and life a lot better.
