Tuition/Teaching Experience
Even though I lack formal experience in giving tuition, I'm committed to doing my best and tailoring my tutoring to each tutee's needs, and I would undertake it as my personal mission to see improvements in my tutee's academics. I also observe a disciplined attitude towards punctuality for all of my commitments, and I believe in transparency in making arrangements with parents and tutees regarding lessons.
Will be away on an overseas trip from 4 July to 12 July.
Rapport Building
I was in a Uniformed Group CCA in secondary school, a sports CCA in JC, and am currently a varsity sports team vice-captain in university. I perfectly understand students' struggles to juggle commitments and still perform in academics; I hope by being somewhat like a student mentor to them, I can have some rapport with my tutees which would allow for a much smoother collaboration. I'm also patient with answering any questions and providing guidance, as I have had to guide my younger cousin with her schoolwork and give advice in her selection of university course.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As a Good Tutor
Since young, I found that I performed much better academically when I put in the effort to understand what I was learning, rather than memorising and regurgitating answers and methods. In a sense, this skill set allows me to think and develop answers almost instinctively, to first understand what is being demanded and then apply what I know to answer it. For this reason I've particularly excelled in languages and humanities subjects.
I would seek to inculcate in my tutees this same skill set, to strengthen their foundations such that they may answer any form of questions confidently, especially for younger tutees. For older tutees in subjects like GP, what I hope to impart is not just general knowledge I've learnt in my Sociology courses which are useful for the paper, but also the ability to analyse what is demanded in questions and how to effectively meet those demands. My course of study also requires me to hone my writing and analytical skills, which are important for GP.
