Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have a passion for teaching. I have taught my cousins who are in lower secondary and primary school. I also have a passion for math and it was my favourite subject in secondary school. I am dedicated to ensuring my students do the nest they can.
I will be starting school this August in NUS school of medicine. I will be able to start teaching this year, only on weekends and I can commit for a 1 year period. I also do not mind teaching groups of 2, if a student wants to bring a friend along. I am willing to travel to students' houses to conduct lessons.
Rapport Building
I personally have had many tutors while studying and have come across my fair share of tutors whom have not really catered to my needs, but I also have had tutors who helped me so much. I know how important it is for their students to score well academically. Without those tutors who have helped me clear doubts in my studies and closed conceptual gaps in my knowledge, I would not have done as well as I had. I hope that I will too be able to help those who feel that they are not doing as well as they should, realise their full potential.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Having graduated from secondary school not too long ago, the curriculum is still fresh in my head and i have got about to refreshing myself by looking through materials before applying to be a tutor. I occasionally help my cousins out with homework. They are in lower secondary and primary school. Therefore i am aware of what the curriculum is like now.
As a Good Tutor
I am patient and will ensure that my students understand concepts fully. First, I will go through thoroughly concepts and key points of the topic before proceeding on to practice questions. Lastly, to test and consolidate their understanding, I will give them mini timed assignments which allows them also to prepare for their examinations. My teaching will be systematic and will stick closely to each schools' curriculum because not every school is teaching the same thing at the same time. I will also try to teach ahead of the school so that the students have an edge over their peers.
