Tuition/Teaching Experience
My name is Shalini and I am 26 this year. I had been tutoring for two and a half years from 2009-2011 while I was doing my Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences. I stopped after being hired by Government Sector. Since I was working 3 shifts, I could not continue with my tuition students. I left the service to continue pursuing my education to the next level. I am currently an undergrad in SIM taking my Bachelor in Counselling.
I am able to start my tuition anytime from now and I can commit to an assignment given to me.
Rapport Building
I still remember my last tuition student who was in K2 and came to me for tuition in Tamil, likes to draw and paint. I started using drawing blocks, crayons and colour pencils to teach him. He started liking to learn and started conversing in Tamil to his family, something which he didn't do before. It is an achievement for any teacher to hear this from a parent. I am willing to listen to any suggestions or so from parents.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I do have a sister who works as a teacher and an aunt who also teaches tuition full-time. I do check with them from time to time to make sure I am still updated and I do not miss out on any curriculum for my students.
As a Good Tutor
My believe and my style of tutoring is firstly to understand how any child likes to learn. Then, tuning their interest from what they like to do to using that as a way to study will attract the child's interest in studying and learning will not become a hassle or so.
