Tuition/Teaching Experience
I have taught secondary school science for 5 years. Most of the cases I take on are sec 3 and 4 students preparing for O levels who are lost and disheartened, scoring badly because they do not understand Chemistry. Because of my higher level of learning, I am able to explain things to them in a simple way. Because of my training in RGS and RJC, I understand the need to include key words and points. Students find my lessons enjoyable.
I try not to drop pupils unless I find they are unable to benefit from me. There have also been pupils who advanced to B3 who have otherwise failed consistently. and sometimes within a few months. (testimonials available upon request)
Have taken and passed a CIDTT diploma from Cambridge because I wanted to be a better teacher.
For lower secondary science, I read up the upper secondary textbooks to understand and decide how to teach the topics better.
For O level Chemistry, especially IP Chem, I read up notes from other JCs or JC guidebooks well.
Rapport Building
Rapport with students is important because they will not do your homework if they do not like you. I build a good relationship with students by asking showing a genuine interest in them, and feedback to the parents the student's academic improvement, especially if the student has emotional or problems in school.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Very familiar with curriculum.
I download a copy of the syllabus whenever it has changed from the SEAB website.
Textbooks and assessment books are also bought when they are changed.
Assessment papers are obtained from students whenever possible to keep up with the school system.
Yearly exam papers are bought.
