Tuition/Teaching Experience
I took on my first student when I was in junior college, and have continued tutoring throughout the years. While I have guided 17 and 18-year olds in GP, I've found that I most enjoy tutoring younger children in English. It's extremely rewarding work to teach at the primary level, as this is the best time to build a good foundation in the language, and progress can be very quick. I've had success in helping children uninterested in the language become avid readers, and ace their PSLE.

Lesson time shouldn't be spent quietly working on an assessment book - the main advantage of one-on-one lessons is individualised attention, and discussion time. I teach every child differently, and will discuss my approach with the parents, as they know their children best.

Rapport Building
Many children don't have a long attention span, but that's okay - I may plan educational games to make things a little more engaging for them. After getting to know them a little better, I may find that they need a little help in very specific areas, and will plan our lessons accordingly. I often draw up original worksheets and exercises for my students.
