Rapport Building
I involve and update the parents about the student's learning progress on a regular basis. I would also encourage the parents to keep tabs and monitor the student's self-learning process. A little progress diary will be maintained in order to keep track of what the student does during the tutoring session and the homework given to him/her. Parents will then be able to also monitor the student's learning process over time.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I view the materials provided by the student's school and supplement it with materials provided from other reliable sources (papers from other schools, tutors and assessment books). I will be sticking to the curriculum guidelines provided by MOE. The general structure is to teach them the content and techniques, check their understanding by testing them verbally and then providing them with ample written practice and feedback.
