I am currently on a study leave and thus able to have high commitment. I prefer 2h sessions where I can cover 2 subjects comprehensively and ensure tutees learn effectively.
Rapport Building
I hold to the belief that "every student can learn and succeed". With this strong belief, I always put myself in the students' shoes and see from their perspectives. At the primary school level, students are learning to develop a high level of critical thinking. Thus, it is imperative that they are given the various platforms to refine and enhance their thinking. I strongly believe that in order for students to achieve a high level of critical thinking and deeper level of academic understanding, tutor and parents have to form an effective two-way communication and trust for the benefit of the students. This is where constant update on students' progress, be it academic or holistic, has to be inculcated. In a nutshell, students, parents and tutor have to work together as a TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
Besides the constant curriculum update I get from further education in NIE, I also constantly check with my peers in various primary schools on the latest syllabus and pedagogies. I will incorporate them in my teaching, so as to provide the best learning platform for my students.
As a Good Tutor
I have a strong interest in my students' well-being, not only in terms of academics but also personal development. Hence, while it is highly encouraged and enforced that students chase after their academic goals, it is also essential that the chase is being done in a civic-minded manner. I hope to pave the way for my students to be both rich in intelligence as well as manners.
