Rapport Building: I can get pretty firm with my charge and will set up rules and boundaries if needed. But most importantly, understanding the psyche of the child will help determine the success of the lessons. After all, I am interested in the development of the child and will provide regular updates and assessment of the child's development to the parents. If I am teaching an older student (upper secondary and above), my approach will be different. It will be more of a discussion and I will encourage the student by treating him less of a child and more of a thinking individual.
