Tuition/Teaching Experience: I have been teaching GP tuition since 2007 and have had numerous batches of around 6-10 (maximum) students each year. I do not take more than I can handle as I prefer to give full attention to each student- especially during exam season. On average, 40% of my students attain As- the rest improve their grades by 2 grades. I've had students since they were sec 1 and seen them through University. I enjoy the process of growing with the students. Not only do I advice my students on the subject, but I also help them through other school milestones, like helping them edit their scholarship essays, picking out subject combinations and motivating them through school because I feel that this is essential in the growth and development of the student.

Rapport Building: It is important to have a good understanding of the student's learning needs and parents' expectations and reconcile the both at the beginning of each assignment, before structuring the lessons to cater to the student's' learning needs. I believe that such a teaching philosophy will enable me to enjoy a good working relationship (one that is built on trust) with the parents and maximise the learning for the student at the same time.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Despite having the MOE for close to 3 years, I believe that a dedicated tutor has to be one who is fully aware of the current syllabus so as to craft the lesson plans accordingly. While there is a past database of teaching materials to tap on, I believe that it is essential to fine-tune the lesson plans accordingly with the latest changes in the syllabus and curriculum.

As a Good Tutor: A good tutor has to be one who works closely with the student to understand his/her learning needs and customise the lesson plans accordingly. This serves to increase the student's engagement level during the lesson and maximise his/her learning at the same time.
