        i believe that communication between me and family is important - it is important to understand why the kid is having trouble with the workload or why the family needs tuition in the first place. it is always good to crack some jokes in and at the same time get some serious work done.

        i read the new textbooks to ensure it is the correct chapters, and of course ask the kid what the teacher is teaching in school!

        i think that a good tutor must be able to handle the kids, especially if the kid is having trouble studying. we should come up with a good study plan instead of relying just on tuition so that the kid can have a long term solution to studying smart.

          I am able to reflect on my past teaching techniques and learning behaviour as a student. I recalled the thought process I had as a student when attempting to solve similar problems and tried to guide students using similar thought process. I will also gauge student's level of understanding and thought process. I would guide students along by prompting them with more questions to set them thinking and deriving the solution on their own. This was because I wanted them to learn the thought process from approaching the question to deriving the solution.
          I have also formulated teaching and learning techniques to encourage higher order thinking and independent learning in students to stretch their potentials, significantly improving the Mathematics grade of 2 students from C5 to A2.
