Tuition/Teaching Experience: Helping others has always been my passion, and as such I have taught both children and youth aged between 7- 16 on a volunteer-basis in Cambodia. As for paid stints, I've had three students so far as that is the maximum capacity I can take while doing my day-time job well. Of these, one was a Primary 2 boy. I was able to improve his grade from an F to a C within 2 months. The other two were Secondary 3 girls whom I taught A/E Maths. The girls have just completed their O Levels this year, and we shall have to wait for their final results come January. Meanwhile, they have managed to bring their Grades up from E to B for their Preliminaries.

As a Good Tutor: I am confident in my ability to teach. Having completed my University Education, I know exactly how it's like to be a student and feel overwhelmed with massive amounts of information to absorb. My philosophy as your tutor or your child's tutor is simple. I don't want to teach what is just on paper. I believe that as a student, the most important skill one can learn is to learn HOW TO LEARN. If you can master this skill and condense information well, your life as a student will be smooth-sailing. You will no longer merely memorize information and reproduce them during exams. Rather, you will be able to extract yourself from the content you are learning, and make studying both a meaningful and exciting journey. I pride myself on genuinely caring for my students and teaching them in ways that they best grasp informtation well. My wish for them is that they develop a love, hunger, excitement and vigor for learning new things (even outside the classroom!). If I succeed in this, for me, it would be the most satisfying during my stint as their tutor.

Rapport Building: My interactions with parents are limited.
This is because of the good results that their children get, and that they do not have a problem with the way I'm teaching them. Otherwise, parents can communicate with me directly and I will adhere to their request as much as possible.

With the students, because they will be stepping out of their comfort zone for their very first time, I have always established myself as a friendly figure that is there to help them out. Positive reinforcement with compliments are used quite often to keep the students on track. Students that made mistakes will not be left out, but instead, share their mistakes with their friends so they can all learn from it and improve.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: As a degree holder in Mathematics, many mathematical concepts are already known to me. But I always kept a keen interest by visiting the library often and making sure that I am up to date with the current syllabus.

I have made it a point to my students to inform me of what their teachers will be teaching next, so I can prepare for the lesson in terms of illustrations and other materials. As such, no students will leave my class empty-handed.

As a Good Tutor: The purpose of a good tutor is to remove the reliance by students on the adults for their help.
As a good tutor, I have always try to prevent giving worked solutions to my students whenever they are faced with a mathematical problem.
Instead, I give them easier questions so they can answer, compare then infer to solve the difficult questions without my assistance. This helped to allow the students to learn from their mistake, remove their dependence on adults, and also gain a sense of achievement.

Ultimately, their achievements are coincidentally my achievements.
Hence, I only seek nothing but the best for my students.
