          Hi! I'm 27 y/o, a lady part-time tutor of 6 years and counting! I graduated from NTU in 2011 and have been teaching till now. My first student was a primary 6 girl who was failing in Maths and Science. 3 months later, her parents asked me to teach her younger sister Maths.

          Both students did relatively well to get into an Express stream and I halted tuition as I wanted to concentrate on my engineering studies in NTU. After graduating, I taught Maths and Science to a group, and had 3 O Level students for Maths, Science, E Maths, A Maths and Combined Science (Chem/Phy and Chem/Bio). All 3 of my O Level students have achieved at least a B for all the subjects I taught and are now in Polytechnic/JC.

          I have a planned a holiday with my ageing parents in March school holidays. Other than that, I am pretty much available anytime after 730pm (depending on the location) on weekdays and Saturday afternoon or Sunday, any time of the day. I plan to commit with the student till he graduate!

          I remember my first student. She was a primary 6 girl who was failing in Maths and Science. She had her rough days and at times, would show her attitude and not do the homework I assigned to her. She gave up easily on the challenging Maths problem sums as well. I had high tolerance for such students and I remained patient with her. At times, I used props around her house to prove a "scientific" concept. At times, we joked around during my lesson to lighten the mood. Slowly, she saw the effort I was putting in to making her learn and thankfully, she appreciated it and tried her best.
          Keeping Up with Curriculum
          Currently, I am teaching 2 O Level students E Maths and A Maths. I often advise my fellow tutors friends on creative problem solving, and hence, I am pretty updated with the MOE syllabus.
          As a Good Tutor
          I have a good track record. All my students passed so far and managed to get into Junior college or polytechnic. I juggle both work and tuition pretty well so far. I know when to call my work a day, my work never interferes with my teaching, and I go the extra mile for my students, like encouraging them to whatsapp me their school problems. I keep things between students me and strictly professional, but I am always there to support them in their growing and exploratory stage in life.
