Commitment / Other Details
Able to commit all the way until the end of the year at least. Am currently very flexible with time schedules although will be more rigid after entering university in august
Rapport Building
I cater very much to the student's learning style and to correct his weaknesses and misinformations about concepts or studying technique. Will connect with the student on a personal level while maintaining the discipline and seriousness required during studies. Will be very open to the parents about my style and approach to each particular student and will keep my approach within the parents' requirements. Will also motivate the child to want to study for him/herself.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I have plenty of connections (plus online references) to ensure that the content I teach remains relevant to the MOE's guidelines.
As a Good Tutor
I think the hallmarks of a good tutor are firstly, being consistent and directed in their tutoring endeavors. Many tutors just teach topic by topic depending on his or her mood, or jump from topics to topics without understanding the need to build foundations in a particular topic before heading on to more complex ones that are dependent on the mastery of the foundational topics. Secondly, A good tutor is one who knows how to adapt their teaching styles to that of the student because different students do badly in their studies due to different reasons or different weaknesses. Thirdly a good tutor is resourceful enough to gather notes and guides which prove not to waste time and be 100% efficient in helping the student study specifically for the examinations. Lastly, a good tutor can not give up on their tutee and the tutor themselves must thus have a strong purpose or reason to continue teaching a student who may be too slow at studying, or too disinterested.
