Tuition/Teaching Experience
I had 2 years of tutoring experience. I have taught one P3, one P4, one P5, three S2 and two S4 students, excluding the non-official tuition assignments. Many of their parents are satisfied with the results after tutoring them and most of the secondary school students' parents requested for me to continue teaching but I had to stop because of National Service. Before I teach, I like to find out what interests the students. From that, I will try to build a link between their interest and the academic concepts that are being taught so that they find it easier to remember. I also like to include some life principles in my teaching so that they do not just benefit academically.

Commitment / Other Details
I am able to start immediately and I am able to commit until the end of 2015 for now because I am currently awaiting for the result of my application to be an untrained teacher in MOE, which will be out on Oct.
Rapport Building
I usually build rapport with the parents by making them feel more involved in their children's academic, like something as small as praising their children and their progress in their studies.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
I keep myself updated with the curriculum by doing the Ten Year Series. I will also read the textbook to learn about their new syllabus.
As a Good Tutor
I think the basic qualities of good tutors are professionalism and care for students. Although it may just be a part-time job to some people, but it concerns the academic results and even the future of the students involved. Hence upholding the professionalism to give your best during the sessions is important, even though sometimes it is easy to just slack off especially when the tuition is happening in the comfort of the room, where the parents are not watching. When a tutor is able to care for his/her students, I believe it will create good rapport for the students to open up and also to learn. People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care. As a part-time tutor, it is also easier to care for and keep track of the student's progress and this is an advantage.
