Rapport Building: About me: I am a full-time tutor with 4 years of experience teaching students from primary to JC level. I have an intense passion for the English language along with the passion and patience for teaching. After pursing a career in Public Relations for 3 years (agency servicing, influencer management and campaign management), I've decided to leave my lucrative career in order to pursue teaching at a one-to-one level. I've taught high-achieving students who wish to be pushed to do the best that they can be, along with students who are slower learners/with learning disabilities who need to be coached patiently to have a more comprehensive grasp on the academic curriculum. I recognise that every student has their own abilities and capabilities, and it is my duty as a tutor to recognise them in order to tailor my teaching for them to learn most effectively.

Keeping Up with Curriculum: Learning skills: I enjoy conversing with students when they are stuck at a question, engaging them to find how why they are unable to answer the question and guiding them through the steps to answer the question. This requires practice, and in time, I believe that students will be able to answer them independently without relying too much on a tutor.

Furthermore, I am a strong believer of having students asking questions instead of waiting for answers. I am able to teach them ways and means to find out answers to their questions outside of the curriculum to instill a sense of curiosity and inquiry.

Learning resources: As en English tutor, I will be able to provide learning materials beyond the usual assessment book practices - newspaper articles of current affairs from top sources (The Straits Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, BBC) along with my personal commentary on these issues for them to expand their scope of the world beyond what they are used to.

GP students at JC level will also receive 1 to 2 essays per month written by me as a point of reference for exemplary writing and structure. For students at lower levels, I am able to provide writing samples upon request.

For upper secondary and JC students, late-night tutoring sessions 1-3 days before major examinations are available upon request.
