Tuition/Teaching Experience
English is something I have always had a natural affinity for, and my strength lies in not simply being good at the subject, or being able to teach, but also being able to identify the level each student is at and tailor a comprehensive plan for them, be it making the jump from fail to pass, or average to excellent.

I have tutored a foreign student (in English) seeking enrollment into secondary schools, and also helped my friends with Junior College level General Paper. While many people say that language is something that cannot be tutored, I strongly believe that with the right tools, focus and patient mentoring, any student will be able to benefit from tuition.
Apart from English and General Paper, I can also provide help for History and Literature at both Secondary and JC levels

Commitment / Other Details
I am currently an undergraduate at the Singapore Management University, and I would be willing to start any time. Weekends and certain weekdays are open for lessons, and my schedule allows for multiple lessons a week if needed. During examination periods, I can provide crash courses, however I do prefer that lessons start early and on a regular basis to create a solid foundation. I am able to commit to tuition on a long term basis, but with each tertiary semester my own schedule will change, and I am happy to rearrange lesson days to suit the student.
Rapport Building
I believe that students, parents and teachers all have a stake in the student's education and outcome. As such, I am keen to communicate openly and flexibly with both parents and students, to update all parties on progress as well as listen to any concerns or ideas. Tuition should be engaging, and as a teacher it goes beyond simply the academic level, but also a chance to find out how to link the subject to students' areas of interest and make it more relatable to them.
Keeping Up with Curriculum
As a Good Tutor
A good tutor should be flexible, easy to approach and also honest. Tuition is something that requires a personal touch, or it would be no different from a classroom. I believe in tailoring a program that fits individual needs, and assignments and study techniques that suit the individual, rather than taking a generic approach. Creating an interest and making students see that improvement is achievable - through assignments and study techniques that suit individual methods of learning - are all key attributes of a good tutor, and these are qualities and approaches that I adopt.
