        I am a very sociable person who is fluent in both English and Chinese so i usually have no problem getting along with parents and teenagers or even children. I have never tutored anyone other than my sibling and my cousins, but i am willing to learn as i am in this job for the long run. I can sit down with the parents/students before/after the tuition session to learn more about the student's habits (i.e. not paying attention in class, lack of vocabulary etc) and will make changes to my lessons to tackle such issues.

        I go through the homework of my younger sibling all the time, so i am familiar with the changes in the syllabus since my time in school.
        As a Good Tutor
        For me, being a good tutor means being flexible and dedicated in the way you teach. There will not be one sure-fire method to teach all students because different students have problems they face while studying. Making changes in the way you teach to cater to the needs of the students will bring about the best results in their studies. On the other hand, being rigid in the way you teach and not fully understanding your student's learning habits may bring about adverse effects such as the students losing interest in learning.

        I have had this problem with my Mathematics teacher in secondary school. She was a veteran teacher with many years of experience in teaching. However, she had no flexibility in the way she gave her lessons, which resulted in her students not able to fully understand the content. Furthermore, there were 40 students in the class, hence it was difficult for her to clear everyone's doubts on the lesson within the lesson time. I ended up having to go for tuition sessions because of my poor understanding of the lessons in school. In tuition, the tutor gave me 100% of their attention and she was able to help with my studies tremendously by going through the content with me one-on-one. I ended up learning more during tuition than in the school's Math lessons.

              I believe that being a good tutor needs to encourage his students to understand what they are learning rather than to memorize steps or answers etc. Also a good tutor needs to be patient and not be too rushed in enforcing his teaching on the student as it is important to understand and to get rid of the misconceptions students may have first.
