Tuition/Teaching Experience: I'm a full-time tutor with 8 years of experience.

I have tutored numerous students ranging from Primary to Tertiary levels, in the English language and Mathematics, including foreign students and a child diagnosed with autism.

Many of my students who were just passing or failing Mathematics were able to attain at least a B3 grade by their next examination. One of my proudest moments was when one of my students was able to get into her school's Pure Science class, having attained distinctions for both English and Math - the subjects she was weakest in before I started tutoring her.

Commitment / Other Details: When I start university in August, there might be a need for alternative arrangements, such as shifting lessons to weekends.

Rapport Building: Being young as I am, I think I will be able to get along well with students! I will be able to think like them, and therefore understand their needs! I'm quite friendly and easy going, but at the same time, I take learning seriously!

Keeping Up with Curriculum: It hasn't been too long since I've left school, so I'm rather in touch with the curriculum. And actually, lessons will be based on the syllabus, which can be easily accessed on the SEAB website.

As a Good Tutor: I think a tutor's job should not be teaching the curriculum, because that's what is done in school. I think the benefit of having a tutor is definitely the individualized attention and personalized way of teaching and learning for the child. In school, a teacher needs to teach a whole class, and the way of teaching may not be effective for all the students. Different kids have different needs, and I think a good tutor should be one that pays attention to the student's needs, and teaches based on that so that the student can understand what is going on.
